'' The Hero''

Our teacher told us to choose a part of the story "The Hero" an explain why we choose this part of the story.
"He looked at it for a long time and then at the earth under which Eduard Campbell,husband, hero, and military governor, lay. Then, in a burst of sudden gratitude, he knelt for  a momento, and closed his eyes. Below his knees lay not just a man, but a story"
I choose this part of the story  because the wife of Mr.Campbell was showing  the tumb of her husband to the man and telling him the story of what makes him a hero.

3 Passages "The Black Cat"

1. “I became a heavy drinker, and my need for alcohol soon grew into a terrible disease.” (16-17)

Think of reasons why a person can become a heavy drinker.

2. “I stopped taking care of them [the animals] and sometimes I was even cruel to them. But I was never cruel to Pluto.” (17)

Why do you think the man behaves differently towards Pluto? Does the cat have something different from the rest of the animals or the wife? Is it special for some reason? Does it represent something?

3. “There is something strange about the human heart. We humans seem to like hurting ourselves. Haven’t we all, a hundred times, done something stupid or evil just because we know we should not do it?” (18)

Do you agree? Can you empathize (understand, feel sorry for) with the narrator

1-Because if you don't have a good life you can be a drinker or if  you are unhappy too. If you drink one time you can become addicted to that.

2-Because he loves Pluto he thinks he is special.

2-Because the cat woul never leave him,or that is what he thought.

On Friday, 12 June, I woke up early at six o 'clock ;It was my birthday. I'm not allowed to get up then, so I had to wait until quarter to seven.Then I went down to the dining-room, where Moortje, my cat, welcome me. At seven I went in to Mummy and Daddy, and then to the sitting-room for my present .The nicest present was  you-my diary!There was a bunch of roses on the table, and lots more flowers and presents arrive for me during the day. Daddy and Mummy gave me a blue blouse, a game and a bottle of fruit juice which taste quite like wine!

At school, I shared out some cakes with my Friends, and I was allowed to choose the game that we played in the sports lesson. Afterwards, all my Friends danced round me in a circle and sang 'Happy Birthday'

It's strange, writing a diary. Of course, I've written things before, but who will be interested in the thoughts of a thirteen-year-old schoolgirl?Well,does it matter? I want to write, and I want to bring out so many things that lie Deep in my heart.
I need a diary because I haven't got a friend. You won't belive that  I am completely alone in the world! And I'm not. I have loving parents and a sixteen-year-old sister, a good home and about thirty people that I can call Friends. There are plenty of boys who are interested in me too! But I haven't got yhat one, true friend who understands me.So this diary can be my new friend. Let's start with the story of my life.

''The black cat'', one of the most memorable stories written by EDGAR ALLAN POE in 1843 is based on a man who loved his cat as much as he loved alcohol, so as time went by he became a mean drunk so he killed his cat and he thought that the cat came back to take revenge of  him.
This story is a story to ejoy if you like this type of suspence stories.

Dear diary, today he has made something that I will never , never! forget.He took out Pluto's eye!!he is too mad but I'm clever and I know that if I divorce now I wiil be the rest of my life alone, he is cruel and wile , I undertand that and it's not on purposse, he is drunk and he can not control himself and he could change, he is not evil, he is friendly but he doesn't show it so I will give him another opportunity.
